The Urban Tea Merchant is an upscale tea boutique located in the heart of downtown Vancouver’s “so called” ‘Rodeo Drive’. They are Canada’s exclusive distributor of TWG Tea; the finest teas in the world.
The tea showroom is split into two rooms; a retail area on the main floor and upstairs tea salon that can accommodate up to 22 guests.
They offer all day Afternoon Tea services and have many options to fit any budget, but I was here to try their seasonal tea set; Summer Westcoast Tea ($45 per person with a minimum two people)
The elegant tea set is here for the summer and is carefully created by Chef Cliff and Pastry Chef Tom.
Savouries:
Miso Maple Sablefish with“Place Vendome Tea”infused Black Radish
Lime and Ocean Wise Chili BC Halibut,
Alaska King Crab with “Matcha” Drawn Butter
Ocean Wise Sea Scallops Crudo with fresh Goji Berries and Coconut White Balsamic Splash
“Passion Fruit Tea” infused Uni Chawanmushi (Dashi Soup Custard), Trout Caviar, Pickled Shemiji Mushrooms.

Each confection is carefully handcrafted by Chef Tom with the exception of the macarons, those are flown in weekly from TWG Tea in Singapore.

Passion-Framboise Tart
“Valentine’s Breakfast Tea” infused Raspberry Coulis TWG Tea Macaron
“Tokyo-Singapore Tea” infused Ricotta Cheesecake White
Dark Chocolate Dipped Strawberry
Mélange of Fresh Fruit.
The Urban Tea Merchant launches TWG Iced Tea collection just in time for summer. Now you can sip and savour your teas over ice. Offering fifteen varieties of Iced Tea to please any palate.
The convenient packaging makes preparing iced tea a breeze.
If you’re a tea lover as much as I am, you’ll love The Urban Tea Merchant’s wide selection of loose leaf teas (over 300 to be exact). The toughest task is probably deciding which loose leaf tea to enjoy. But if you still can’t decide, they have experienced tea sommeliers ready to assist you.
I love the how the The Summer Westcoast Tea Set is a modern twist on the “traditional afternoon tea” experience. I would recommend it for anyone seeking a relaxing afternoon.
