Pearl Castle Cafe is an award winning restaurant in Metro Vancouver serving authentic Taiwanese cuisine and bubble tea.
I was invited to a sit down dinner by ChineseBites along with four other foodies Beth (@bitesofVancouver), Mimi (@indugewithmimi) and Nicole (@Tokyo_to). We dined at their flagship location at Continental Square in Richmond location.
We started the night with choosing our drinks from their large selection of bubble teas.
My eyes were drawn to this massive cotton candy concoction on their drink menu, so of course I ordered it. ‘Young Girls Dream’ made of grenadine, calpis, pop and cotton candy; a sweet and bubbly drink. Next up was the traditional bubble tea drinks; Milk Tea, Mango and Hot Chocolate with bubbles.
House Special Beef Noodle is their best seller. The stock is cooked for over three hours and results in a very tender and flavourful beef. This dish is often sold out by dinner, so come early if you want to try this.
The Three Cup Chicken dish won a Chinese Restaurant Award in 2015. This can be ordered as a three set combo or as a main dish. It was well cooked and seasoned.
The Miso Seafood & Pork Hot Pot and the Ginseng Chicken Hot Pot were both subtle in flavour. I found them average to be average.
Overall, I enjoyed their large menu selection and would love to come back and try their lunch specials.
I would recommend:
Three cup chicken, House Special Beef Noodle and any of the bubble tea drinks.
